Although he appeared to defend the decision, longtime CNN anchor Anderson Cooper added, “You have every right to be outraged today and angry and never watch this network again.”

According to the Washington Post, critics believe that it was wrong for the news outlet to give a platform to Trump, which is a pretty ludicrous position, since, after all, he’s the former president and frontrunner in the GOP primary.

Squad member AOC said that CNN “should be ashamed of themselves”. Multiple CNN staffers expressed outrage, with one calling the event a “disgrace”.

“CNN should be ashamed of themselves. They have lost total control of this “town hall,” tweeted AOC. “CNN should be ashamed of themselves. They have lost total control of this “town hall” to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation….The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host.”

She added: “This falls squarely on CNN. Everyone here saw exactly what was going to happen…This was a choice to platform lies about the election & Jan 6th w/ no plan but to have their moderator interrupted without consequence.”

Longtime CNN anchor Anderson Cooper had strong words on his Thursday broadcast. He said, “Before we begin with tonight’s broadcast, I want to say something about what we witnessed at last night’s town hall,” he began. “Many of you have expressed deep anger and disappointment. Many of you are upset that someone who attempted to destroy our democracy was invited to sit on a stage in front of a crowd of Republican voters to answer questions and predictably, continued to spew lie after lie after lie. And I get it. It was disturbing.”

Later in his monologue, Cooper said, “Now, many of you think CNN shouldn’t have given him any platform to speak. And I understand the anger about that – giving him the audience, the time. I get that. But this is what I also get. The man you were so disturbed to see and hear from last night? That man is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president. And according to polling, no other Republican is even close.”

Cooper later said, “So, if last night showed anything, it showed it can happen again. It is happening again. He hasn’t changed, and he is running hard. You have every right to be outraged today and angry and never watch this network again. But do you think staying in your silo and only listening to people you agree with is going to make that person go away?”

As reported in the Washington Post, CNN insiders told Rolling Stone that the event was “appalling,” and CNN shouldn’t have given Trump “a huge platform to spew his lies.”

Another insider told the magazine that it was a “disgrace” and “1000% a mistake. No one [at CNN] is happy.”

Journalists called the town hall a “debacle,” a “disaster” and “CNN’s lowest moment.” On Twitter, the hashtags and phrases BoycottCNN, DoneWithCNN and ByeCNN trended .

“We did it wrong,” said an on-air personality who chose to remain anonymous. “We treated him like a normal politician who could be fact-checked. We ended up dancing around a demagogue.”

CNN’s own media reporter, Oliver Darcy, wrote in the network’s daily Newsletter: “It’s hard to see how America was served by the spectacle of lies that aired on CNN Wednesday evening.”

Another staffer suggested CEO Chris Licht and other executives should resign.

CNN contributor Michael Fanone, a D.C. police officer who was injured on January 6, slammed CNN in an essay published by Rolling Stone.

“Putting him onstage, having him answer questions like a normal candidate who didn’t get people killed in the process of trying to end the democracy he’s attempting to once again run, normalizes what Trump did,” Fanone wrote. “It sends a message that attempting a coup is just part of the process; that accepting election results is a choice; and that there are no consequences, in the media or in politics or anywhere else, for rejecting them.”

“I can’t believe anyone thought this was a good idea,” said another anonymous CNN staffer. “I’ve been a CNN journalist for many years. I’ve always been so proud to say that. I’ve never, ever been ashamed of CNN until tonight.”

The left believes that freedom of speech is constitutionally protected only for the leftist anti-American socialists.

Why do you have to post a picture of this self-important sanctimonious communist on your web site? Unfortunately, we all know how this mashshafa looks.

CNN has every right to have a former president on. The problem is that Trump’s bizarre, lying performance amplified his weird political ideas and personal insults and that the CNN interviewer didn’t press him on any of his blatant fabrications or absurd and silly responses. He showed once again he is only a crude carnival barker, and the whole world saw it.
