IDF Troops Mapping Out Huwara Terrorist’s Home For Demolition Fired On By Locals, 1 Terrorist Shot Dead

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — IDF troops preparing to demolish the home of the sons of the terrorist who murdered Hallel and Yagel Yaniv in Shechem were fired on by local terrorists. The troops returned fire, shooting dead a 22-year-old terrorist, identified by Palestinian sources as Saleh Muhammad Saleh Sabreh.

The troops entered the Ascar refugee camp, situated on the outskirts of Shechem, at 4 AM and were met by armed men who opened fire and hurled explosive devices at troops, as well as other rioters hurling stones and fireworks.

“The forces responded with riot dispersal means and live fire,” the IDF said, adding that at least one suspect was hit. There were no injuries to IDF soldiers but some damage to vehicles was caused.

On February 26, Abdel Fattah Hussein Kharousha, 49, a member of the Hamas terror group, murdered Hallel Yaniv, 21, and Yagel Yaniv, 19, shooting them at point-blank range as they drove through Huwara. His sons, Khaled and Muhammed Kharousha, were charged with murder for assisting in planning the attack.

Khaled’s home was being mapped for demolition early Monday when the firefight broke out. He and his brother are being held in custody and are charged with intentional causing of death- the military equivalent to murder, as well as weapons offenses. Their father was eliminated in a firefight with IDF soldiers in Jenin a short time after the murder and his home is also slated for demolition.

The sons allegedly helped their father in planning the attack and carried out intelligence gathering, according to the indictment.

Initially, the sons were supposed to join their father in the attack itself, but in the days before the February 26 shooting, they agreed that the elder Kharousha would carry it out alone, the indictment added.

The pair were being held until the end of legal proceedings.

On Saturday, two Palestinian terrorists were shot dead as Israeli troops carried out a raid against a terror operative’s hideout apartment in Shechem. Later that day, another Palestinian terrorist was shot dead while trying to stab Border Police officers at a  checkpoint, law enforcement officials said.
