Kevin McCarthy and the GOP are giving President Biden an unlimited debt-ceiling increase. Democrats can now borrow into oblivion, as many trillions as they want, until 2025, with zero repercussions.
In return, the Republicans have gotten:
- Zero spending cuts
- No repeal of student loan forgiveness
- No work requirements for Medicaid
- Minimal cuts to IRS funding
Yes there are some benefits, including a spending freeze, increased work requirements for SNAP Food Stamps, rescinding of unused Covid relief funds, and the repeal of $1.9 Billion in IRS funding.
But overall, this is not what we were promised.

The budget deal was a big win no matter what the details are. It established that unchecked reckless spending with no plan to pay back needs to stop. A mere month ago Biden and the Democrats were insisting otherwise
The reason the Republicans lost the ‘debt ceiling’ fight is because they have started to ‘get high on their own supply’. They have started to believe their own propaganda about President Biden, and they underestimate him.
He doesn’t bluster, he doesn’t bluff, but he calmly and quietly gets stuff done. He ignores symbolism, but gets laws passed. And now he got his way with the debt ceiling, because the republicans are supremely dumb. But that was obvious to all.
Larry Kudlow was on Sid & Friends this morning and he claims, ultimately it WILL be a tremendous victory for the fiscal responsible conservatives. There is a cheshbon here. It takes time. If this goes thru, it will set in motion a complete overhaul be”h.
I’m surprised anyone with brains is satisfied with this bill.
