Shomrim received a call at approximately 1:40 today about a suspicious individual who was trying to enter homes on Penn Street. Shomrim contacted 911 and responded to the scene, keeping an eye on the suspect until police arrived and apprehended the suspect.

Williamsburg Shomrim coordinator Yanky Itzkowitz told VIN News that it became immediately apparent that something was off with the suspect.

“He seemed weak and tired, and he didn’t speak at all,” said Itzkowitz.

Working together, Shomrim and the members of the NYPD’s 90th Precinct, realized that the missing man matched the description of 32 year old Jimmy Ling, who had been reported missing by the NYPD’s 109th Precinct on December 22nd. Ling, who is autistic, had last been seen a day earlier in Flushing at approximately 4:20 in the afternoon.

Ling was transported to Woodhull Hospital where he was reunited with his family. Taking to Twitter to announce the good news, the NYPD’s 109th Precinct credited Shomrim for finding the missing man more than eight miles away from where he had last been spotted, heralding it as a holiday miracle.
