JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a sharp response to the High Court’s decision to partially halt funding to yeshivos due to the status of yeshiva students regarding army service, Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch, one of the leaders of the Lithuanian community, slammed the Israeli government for allowing such a situation.

“What happened at the end of last week is that they abolished our right to learn Torah in Eretz Yisrael at present. We will need self-sacrifice for it, it isn’t possible to know yet it what way, how strict they will be.

“There are two kinds of people attempting to cancel the Torah study among us. There are those that don’t specifically hate religion but they don’t believe and don’t understand that the Torah is what protects them, that this is the only reason Eretz Yisrael can continue to exist despite the enemies surrounding us. They don’t believe this, and therefore demand equal burden.”

There are others who are really evil people, they don’t care about equal burdens, they just hate us, hate religion, hate the Torah ,hate Bnei Torah. We see how they responded to all kinds of suggestions even from their own people, it all stems from hatred, hatred of religion and Torah scholars. They want to destroy us and we must stand up against them with self-sacrifice, let’s hope we don’t get to that point, but we may need to in the future.

So now they’re “obligated” to financially support us. If I wouldn’t know better, I’d think his reaction is a Purim joke.

When a Rosh Yeshiva has in ingrown toenail, he physically takes care of it, he doesn’t sit down to learn to make the nail straighten up.
The whole thing is all about money and again money.
While the young soldiers are risking their lives to save Yidden, we are busy collecting money.
My Roshei Yeshiva here in New York, were not able to buy houses for all their children. Should they therefore start pressuring the government for money.

Maybe we should offer attendance records and monthly exams so that
lomdei Torah can be exempt. The problem is with Chareidi Batlanim.
