JERUSALEM (VINnews) — During a Likud faction meeting on Monday evening, Israeli Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar expressed vehement opposition to Israeli military control of the Gaza Strip after the war, a possibility being discussed by some right-wing elements.

“Anyone here who calls for a military government knows that he will later go to the homes of the mothers who will lose, probably hundreds if not more soldiers, and explain to them why their children fell.”

Minister Zohar was heard shouting, in a recording published by Kan 11 News reporter Michael Shemesh, that military control means “to manage these murderers, to manage people who supported terrorism, who encouraged terrorism, who took Hamas as their leader which led to this mass murder, why should I go and be their babysitter?”

He asked his fellow faction members to think again about military control of the Gaza Strip. “Think about it before you make statements about a military government.”

Zohar is one of several Likud ministers opposed to the possibility of Israel ruling the Gaza strip after the war. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant explained at the meeting why he is against military control of the Gaza Strip, saying, “This will make the military service four years, we don’t have enough soldiers for that.”

At the same time, amid criticism of his statements, he stressed that “I am against a Palestinian state, neither Hamas nor Israel should be there. I think the least bad alternative is a local factor, but there are currently no volunteers among nations in the world.”

Minister Avi Dichter, a former Shin Bet head, disagreed with Zohar and Gallant. “My position is clear and concise: The state of Israel and the IDF must take of control of the Gaza strip. The Hamas threat will not be eradicated unless Israel controls the Gaza strip, with full conquering of the region.”

A recent IDF manifesto discussed the cost of Israeli military rule in Gaza, claiming that it would require five divisions of the army to be redeployed from the north and center of the country and would cost 20 billion NIS a year. This would require huge additions to the reserves as well as extension of the regular military service.

The best solution would be to let those Gazans who want to leave to be able to do so, but no country will agree to have them.

there has been massive brainwashing over the last forty years starting from Vietnam, where ‘occupying another people is a no-no’ is the only ‘Mitzva’ they fanatically keep.
You can have hundreds of thousands of casualties, but no, no occupation!
This, and other leftist beliefs, makes the military ‘experts’ lose their ‘Chezkas Umnus’ (professional credentials) and every kindergarten child has more common sense than them.

Miki Zohar is extremely dumb. He doesn’t want to babysit the murderers so they should be left to their own devices to build up the terrorist infrastructure again and then guarantee a repeat of Oct 7 and afterwards? Unbelievable. You dont want to babysit the terrorists? So implement a “program” where the Fakestinians are given $ to leave.

Sure we will suffer losses but will it exceed what happened on Oct 7? There is no easy solution. Like come on who do you think will govern Gaza aside for Hamas? Anyone else will get asassinated. Our only choice is to stay. Staying could mean just splitting Gaza in two or three regions and having military bases there. It doesn’t mean governing. We need to be there enough to stop tunnels, and continuously disrupt capabilities to build military infrastructures. And yes while hanging out there we will constantly attacked but whats our choice. Essentially they need to be limited to gorilla warfare which isn’t fun but better than military.

Hamas Arabs caused tremendous damages to Israel and the cost of those damages has to be collected. The only way they can pay is with land… All of Gaza. This will be feasible when Trump is President.
