WASHINGTON – A newly unsealed video reveals that a suspected Saudi spy was filming the US Capitol and the Washington Monument just months before al Qaeda officials selected their targets for the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The video, dating back to 1999, features Omar al-Bayoumi, an alleged Saudi intelligence operative with close ties to two of the 9/11 hijackers. In the footage, reported by CBS’s “60 Minutes,” al-Bayoumi is heard narrating scenes of the US Capitol and the Washington Monument.
Although the US government has consistently asserted that al Qaeda acted alone on September 11, retired FBI Agent Richard Lambert suggests the video is further evidence of external support for the terror group.
“It is another very large brick in a massive wall of evidence that at this point indicates the Saudi government was complicit in the 9/11 attacks,” Lambert told the news program.
The unsettling footage documents al-Bayoumi’s visit to Washington, DC, where he addresses his “brothers,” vowing to survey the capital thoroughly.
“I will go over there, and I will report,” al-Bayoumi says, panning the camera to the monuments. “I will report to you in detail what is there.”
During the video, al-Bayoumi also references a “plan,” raising further suspicions about his intentions.
Lambert, now a consultant for the 9/11 victims’ families suing Saudi Arabia, believes the video might have influenced al Qaeda’s target selection.
Investigators have long suspected that United Airlines Flight 93 was intended to hit the US Capitol before passengers overpowered the hijackers, causing the plane to crash in a Pennsylvania field. Additionally, another plane crashed into the Pentagon, while two others struck the Twin Towers in New York City.
The extent of US officials’ scrutiny of the video remains unclear, as both al-Bayoumi and the Saudi government have dismissed it as a mere tourist recording.
Former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell expressed his concerns after seeing the video for the first time on “60 Minutes,” calling it a “chilling video.”
“No doubt in my mind that it is a casing video for some sort of terrorist attack,” Morell said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” He added, “I’m 99.9% confident that we did not have this video. I was the president’s briefer at the time. If somebody had shown me this video, I would have shown it to the president.”
Retired FBI Agent Ken Williams, who worked on the 9/11 investigation, questioned the delay in the video’s emergence, noting it was obtained by US authorities following a British raid on al-Bayoumi’s UK residence in 2001.
“If that was missed, then shame on us for missing it,” Williams stated. “If it wasn’t missed, then I would have to ask the question: What was done with it?”
The video was unsealed last week in federal court as part of the case against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The FBI has declined to comment on the video and the ongoing litigation.
Who knows how many such videos are being filmed now by these illegal migrants?

Not believable that this was tied to the plane terrorists. One doesn’t need spies to show what the Capitol looks like, where it’s located , etc. Any school student from wherever knows that.
People have a very short term memory. Its time to do a little chazora on history. The Islamic terrorists have not only been been planning, but been performing terrorist activities in the USA and around the world for years before 9/11, as well as using planes for terrorism for decades. To name a few; In ’93 there was a truck bombing of the world trade center; In the 70s and 80s there were multiple airline hijackings, Entebbe; Flight 847; Lockerbie etc just to name a few. They are only getting more emboldened as time goes on and the world keeps pretending we can live in peace with them. They give no value to life and have unlimited people willing to give their lives for the cause – to destroy the world until they are the last ones standing.

everybody knows that bin laden and most of the attackers were saudi, so it’s no surprise that they might have had saudi contacts like al-bayoumi. but if al-bayoumi was an intelligence operative, he probably wouldn’t have recorded an incriminating soundtrack – that’s just silly. or convenient, for a lawyer suing the saudi government.
If the 9/11 situation was an inside job, was this a fake doctored film? Why were there no windows on the alleged “planes” that sliced thru the Twin Towers, without losing its wings?
