The 32-year-old Ella, the commander of the 52nd battalion of the 401 armored corps, was taken to hospital, but before leaving he was heard telling his soldiers:
“All stations, this is your commander. Keep on fighting, kick their asses! I’m on the way to hospital and will return to you.”

Interviewed in January, Ella, a resident of Gan Yavne, described what he was doing in Jabalya, as his unit “systematically destroyed” Hamas’s rocket capabilities. “These rockets are what you saw being fired towards Israel. We take over a region where there was intel about rockets and after conquering it, destroy these rocket placements.”
On Sunday, the IDF announced that Major Jalaa Ibrahim, a 25-year-old Druze officer from Sajour, had been killed by an anti-tank missile in Rafah. Ibrahim was the commander of a company in the 601 engineers battalion and is survived by his mother and 10 siblings, many of whom serve in significant IDF roles. Ibrahim was the fourth member of the family to serve in the combat engineers brigade.
In a final interview a few weeks ago, Jalaa described the difficulty of fighting for months on end in Gaza but said that morale is high and that the importance of the mission made it worthwhile.
תודה לך איילה חסון . pic.twitter.com/CzDqUIG5G5
