The video below, obtained by Walla, shows the officer trying to pull the two men, who are members of the extremist Jerusalem Faction, by pulling on their beards, without success.
Walla reported that Brig. Gen. Shai Taib, head of the IDF’s Planning Division and Director of Manpower, arrived at the scene and was attacked by hundreds of protesters, some calling him a “murderer” and a “Nazi.”
The Israeli Police said in response: “The Israel Police worked for many hours to maintain public order and prevent rioters in an illegal demonstration from breaking into an IDF facility, while blocking roads and violently confronting the officers. During the illegal demonstration, 10 rioters were arrested for assaulting police officers and disturbing public order. Any allegation of police conduct that deviates from what is acceptable should be investigated by the competent authorities.”
Acting Police Commissioner Major General Avshalom Peled demanded an investigation into the incident last night.
