Jewish Man Stabbed Over Shabbos In Hate Filled Attack in Crown Heights

BROOKLYN – A Lubavitch student was stabbed over Shabbat by a man who shouted “Free Palestine.” Emergency responders from Hatzalah quickly took him to the hospital, and the attacker was apprehended.

“A hate crime stabbing took place early this morning in Crown Heights, at around 2 a.m., near Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue, close to the Chabad Headquarters,” Rabbi Yaacov Behrman shared on X. “The attacker, a Black man in his early 20s, reportedly yelled ‘Free Palestine’ and, after exchanging words with the victim, allegedly asked, ‘Do you want to die?’ before stabbing him.”

Reports indicate that the victim had just left an event at Mendy’s on Kingston Avenue near Eastern Parkway when the attack occurred.

The victim was transported to the hospital by Hatzalah and is expected to recover, thanks to the location of the stabbing and the prompt response of paramedics.

Rabbi Behrman stated that local residents pursued the attacker and held him until police arrived to arrest him.

“This is an extremely serious incident,” Rabbi Behrman emphasized. “The victim could have been killed. This act of hateful violence underscores the dangerous effects of anti-Semitic rhetoric and hate spread by certain politicians and leaders in New York and across the United States.”
