BROOKLYN – A man accused of shouting “Free Palestine!” before stabbing a Jewish man in the stomach has been ordered to be held on $100,000 cash bail on several hate-crime charges.

Vincent Sumpter, a 22-year-old from Brooklyn, allegedly approached Yechiel Dabrowskin around 2 a.m. near the Chabad Headquarters in Crown Heights, where he reportedly shouted antisemitic slurs and asked, “Do you want to die?” before attacking with a knife.
Dabrowskin described the aftermath of the attack to Israel’s Kan 11 News, saying, “It’s very, very painful. I had internal bleeding, but thank God I had a miracle.”
Sumpter, who law enforcement sources say has no previous criminal record in New York City, is facing multiple charges, including second- and third-degree assault and menacing. Four of these charges are being prosecuted as hate crimes.
