Explaining his behavior, Rabbi Dee said that he had not been at the Kotel [Western Wall] for over 30 days, and was therefore halachically required to tear his shirt as a sign of mourning for the Temple. Rabbi Dee added that despite all of the intense efforts to free hostages, there is one hostage “who is the oldest hostage in the world- Temple Mount” and we must remember it at this time.

Thousands of people thronged to the Kotel on the evening and day of Tisha B’av and many joined in singing Ani Ma’amin after the prayers.
