JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The charedi parties sharply attacked the large-scale ascent to Temple Mount and public worship at the site by right-wing activists led by Public Security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, a move which was condemned by prime minister Netanyahu as well as by the US administration.

Degel Hatorah’s Yated Neeman newspaper slammed Ben-Gvir and his fellow minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf for their public ascent, terming it a “shocking act for the Jewish world” and a “rash and dangerous step which endangers the delicate stability in the region and ignores both halachic and political principles.”
Degel Hatorah Mks also criticized Ben-Gvir and MK Moshe Gafni said that they would have to “check with our rabbinic leaders if we can continue to be partners with him.”
Yaakov Asher criticized the prime minister, stating that “It’s unthinkable that the prime minister can’t control dangerous and prohibited whims of members of his government who are acting irresponsibly.” MK Eliyahu Baruchi called Ben-Gvir’s actions a “provocation which irks the Muslim world and endangers the residents of the country at such a delicate time.”
Shas leader Aryeh Deri has taken the most extreme measures against Ben-Gvir, declaring that he would support a Yesh Atid bill in the coming Knesset session which will prohibit Jews from ascending to Temple Mount in accordance with a halachic ruling by Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.
Likud MK Amit Halevi, who himself ascended to Temple Mount on Tisha B’Av, said that “No vote by Shas or Yesh Atid can turn this great mitzvah into a prohibition. No rabbi, including Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, believes that one who ascends to the areas that Herod built on Temple Mount and prays there is transgressing, and therefore he allowed individuals who had prepared themselves halachically to ascend to these parts.
“The only think that will emerge from such cooperation will be a prize to those who hate Hashem, who also hate Israel and humanity. In the current circumstances when the holiest place for the Jews has been kidnapped and made the focus of a religion which putatively calls in the name of G-d to perpetrate murder and barbarity, there is double importance to ascending to Temple Mount and restoring it to its legal owners, so that it will be a spiritual lighthouse and a source of blessing and world peace. I call on Shas members to vote with their feet and join those who ascend according to halacha and not vote with their hands for Yesh Atid who oppose the fundamentals of the Jewish faith.”
On Tisha B’Av 2663 Jews ascended to Temple Mount, a 36% increase from last year.
Anyone who actually goes through the inyan will realize that the representative from otzmah Yehudi is indeed correct regarding the Halachik status of Herrod’s extended platform around the Har Habayis. Almost all poskim agree, going to the mikva is sufficient. With regards to the political question and the idea that going causes a Danger and risk to Klal Yisrael, I would counter that based on the worldwide condemnation of Israel’s actions during this most justified war, there is in fact almost nothing more we can do to prevent the Amim from hating us. So if people are inspired by going up to the hill and bowing towards it And saying a kappitel tehillim For themselves or for the rabbim. Go for it.
Where are the proposed bills to outlaw Toeivah activity, Chillul Shabbos, eating Chazir, etc., etc? Shas, and the other Chareidi parties, will sit in a government with outright atheists who deny Hashem and His Torah; but they want to go after this guy?
To all the amoratzim: first learn actual halacha, from the actual source, not hearsay of someone allegedly said something, before you start screaming “koreis”. Hint: there are different areas on Har Habais, some of which are mutar to enter.
So they sat around for 3 years and did nothing about the draft bill. They could have proposed some sort of alternate civilian service bill but didn’t nothing but cry about it. It they have time for this nonsense? Right or wrong they look like fools.
Lapid and serial thief Deri are co-sponsors.
It’s them (and their political allies, including the Degel) vs the suggya.
And before anyone starts screaming about how the Gedolim hold, please point to a HALACHIC analysis that takes into consideration the current-day metzius, which is that there’s NO WAY that anyone can mistakenly walk on forbidden areas, as they are cordoned off and guarded by policemen who will stop you as soon as you set even one foot over the line.
Is today April Fools Day? This is hilarious, Lapid and Deri being the torch carriers of Halacha, a Frielichen Purim!
Going on Har Habayis when done the right way is a huge mitzvah, if you are not sure, go learn about them.
Those who know how the middle east works, knows that the one who displays courage and strength is the winner, not the one who coils in his own fear.
We came home to build the beis hamikdash and not to sit glued to our chairs waiting for it to fall down from heaven, Hashem is with us we have nothing to fear
Those who actually take their time to learn the subject matter of Har Habayit in halacha know that it is a clear Mishnah that ascending to Machna Leviya is permitted after Tevilah and with non-leather shoes, even a dead body may be taken up as well, the same is also clear in Rambam and no Rishonim disagree with this.
For 1800+ years we do not find ANY POSEK who forbids going up to Har Habayit, this prohibition is less then 60 years old and its politically motivated and driven by fear on the other side, it has nothing to do with halacha, the vast majority of Rabbonim who forbid going up have not really learned the halachas and facts.
In addition to all of that, those who cannot respect Jews who follow their Rav’s Psak, and moreover want to force down the Psak of their Rav down the throat of other people, such people are not behaving in the ways of Talmidie Chachamim and its pure comedy when these people become the guardians of Torah.
It is or is not about unity?
“Shas leader Aryeh Deri…declaring that he would support a Yesh Atid bill…which will prohibit Jews from ascending to Temple Mount in accordance with a halachic ruling by Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. Likud MK Amit Halevi, who himself ascended to Temple Mount on Tisha B’Av, said that “…I call on Shas members to vote with their feet and join those who ascend according to halacha and not vote with their hands for Yesh Atid who oppose the fundamentals of the Jewish faith.”” A typical Zionist, especially a bare-headed one, is rather clueless as to the actual “fundamentals of the Jewish faith” including that Zionism is, itself, extremely opposed to those same fundamentals of the Jewish faith.
Almost all of the previous Gedolei hador and the current ones have ruled that it is forbidden to ascend har habayis today. Anyone who says otherwise is not very well informed. I,m sure that it’s a nice spirtual feeling to go there, however the Gedolei Yisroel have catigorically forbidden it as it is a sufek isur kareis. Not something to be played around with by “young foxes”.
Rabbi’s Yosef Shalom Eliyashiv, Elazer Menachem Man Shach, Chaim Kaniefski, Aharon Yehuda Leib Steiniman, Gershon Edlestein, Yehuda Michoel Lefkowitz, the Chazon ish, the Steipler, Avraham Yitzchak Kook, Ovadia Yosef, Mordeichai Eliyahu, the Chief Rabbinate, and to many more to list.
You will find mainly a minority of modern orthodox, or national religious and a handful of Charedi people who are asending the temple mount. However all of the Gedolei Hador, Ashkenazi, Sefaradi,Chasidish through out the generations have absolutly forbidden going up on Har Habayis no matter which part or even with imersion in a mikvah beforehand.
Anyone who is considering going on the Temple Mount should first ask one of the Gedolim himself, personally. I guarantee you that he will be told that it is absolutely forbidden. That is contrary to what some people who are not Gedolim will try to tell you. Unfortunately many people like to spread fake news.
It’s not something to play around with.
