FLORIDA (VINnews)- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came to the defense of former President Donald Trump after Kamala Harris criticized Trump’s recent visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where he consoled Gold Star families. The confrontation has sparked fresh debate on how the nation honors its fallen heroes and their families.

Harris had taken aim at Trump, accusing him of exploiting a solemn occasion for political gain. She suggested that Trump’s presence at the cemetery was more about generating attention than genuine concern for the grieving families.
“He was invited by the Gold Star families. He didn’t just show up to make a scene,” DeSantis stated firmly, responding to Harris’s remarks. “They asked him.”
DeSantis, who has consistently aligned himself with Trump on many issues, emphasized the significance of respecting the wishes of the families who have lost loved ones in military service. He noted that the invitation extended to Trump came directly from the Gold Star families themselves, a point he argued was crucial in understanding the former president’s intentions.
“Here’s the thing,” DeSantis continued, “if people like Harris and the media are going to express more outrage at that, than the people who made them Gold Star families in the first place? Something is wrong. That is unacceptable.”
