JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a dramatic incident which occurred in the ‘Yashan’ seminar in Jerusalem, one of the most prestigious girls high schools in the capital, the principal announced on the PA system that girls wearing Toms shoes should immediately remove them. Many girls immediately removed their shoes and were left  with stockings until the school and neighbors provided crocs for them to walk with.

The incident occurred after one of the girls in the school sent her Toms to a Shaatnez laboratory which checked them and determined that they might have Shaatnez problems. The girl informed the principal, Rav Yisrael Levin, and he told the girls in the seminar wearing that type of shoe, which is made with a straw sole and is currently very popular, to take them off as they might contain Shaatnez.

The seminar however went out of its way to purchase a large number of crocs for the girls who had to discard their shoes. In the following days it was reported that several girls sent their shoes for testing and received similar responses regarding the Shaatnez issues with them.

Hashem, please bring about the ultimate geulah for sacrifices and nashim tzidkaniyos such as this. Girls wear things as a sense of pride and this is true mesiras nefesh. If you think I’m joking, I’ll tell you right now: I’m NOT. With last night’s missile barrage, we need protection. May we share in B’suros tovos.

It’s important to get it tested by a qualified lab.not by someone not sure that learned it on you tube

I’m not sure why something that may have shatnez should be Assur? Almost everything might have shatnez. Maybe every thing should be Assur until guaranteed to not contain shatnez.

Narashkeit !

If you send your medical data to incompetent labs, your life will become hellish.

If you send to incompetent shaatnis labs, you will have mishagas.

if the result was “maybe”, why didn’t they take off just one shoe? and why run around without shoes, instead of wearing them until they got home? is it really that important to show how frum you are?
