“We would not have made the statement if we had doubts that the talks with the Israelis were positive,” Kirby stated.
“Netanyahu should be asked if he retracted his agreement. I can only say that, based on the conversations last night, we had every reason to believe that he was sincere in his intentions,” he added.

Earlier Netanyahu told reporters in New York, “My policy, our policy, is clear: we continue to strike Hezbollah with full force. We will not stop until we reach our goals and above all the return of the residents of the north to their homes. That is the policy, and may no one be mistaken.”
The Prime Minister’s office also said, “The reports of a ceasefire are not true. This is a French-American initiative that the Prime Minister has not even responded to.”
Speaking with ABC News host Linsey Davis, Kirby affirmed that while Israel has a right to defend itself, if the goal is to get families back home to the northern Israeli border, the best way is “through diplomacy, not an all out war.”
Regarding a potential cease-fire with Hamas, Kirby’s response was bleak. He said “Linsey I wish I could tell you that we are on the brink of a breakthrough here but we are not… and the principal obstacle to this is Sinwar himself. Kirby added that Sinwar is “sitting down there in a tunnel surrounded by hostages and unwilling to have any kind of meaningful negotiation and move towards a cease-fire.”
Yep. Someone should tell him that he should have tried diplomacy with the 9/11 terrorists and of course, Osama Bin Laden. Practice what you preach.
How did diplomacy work for the past year when Hizbollah launched over 10,000 rockets and forced the displacement of Israel’s northern population? Or when they murdered those Druze kids in a playground?
Kirby is a democratic tool.
Why does Biden/Blinken only call for a ceasefire when Israel finally retaliates, there was no calls for a ceasefire over the last 11 months of hezbollah missile attacks. It is alway Israel that has to ceasfire, when every single war has been because the other side violated a ceasefire. The only call should be for Hamas to return the hostages and surrender and for Hezbollah to stop firing rockets and return north of the Litani River.
I’d hate to be his wife if someone threatened her. What a yutz.
Ok, “Hizbolla please please don’t launch any missiles “. Diplomacy let’s see if it worked.
Sure. Like the shuttling Blinkety Blinken has been doing for months trying to appease the Hamas savages. The best diplomacy with savages is delivered via beepers.
Kirby is lying pos.
This guy is so full of crap he leaves brown foots stains where ever he walks!
Translation. the jewish nation and its people should turn the other cheek when getting murdered and raped..
Kirby is just a democ hack
Ask Heinrich how diplomacy works sitting in Paris. I still remember the last Saigon helicopter.
News reports indicate that Israel handled the Nasrallah issue very diplomatically.
20/20 hindsight is nice.
Diplomacy with savages. Stupid moron
