JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In recent years, Israel has been developing technologies enabling it to monitor almost any conversation taking place on Lebanese soil. Hassan Nasrallah himself said on several occasions that his henchmen should “keep away from cellphones because the Zionists are listening to every word.” Nasrallah wasn’t wrong, but he didn’t imagine how porous the entire communications system could be. Israel’s vaunted 8200 intelligence section was capable of analyzing conversations, messages and even Whatsapps with phenomenal accuracy.

Israel even succeeded in penetrating surveillance cameras at the bunker where Nasrallah was positively identified as being located on Friday. From 9:30 in the morning, senior Hezbollah members began arriving at the bunker in Dahia, which was located under a complex of three buildings joined together to look like a hospital. At 11 AM (Israel time) Nasrallah’s car arrived at the compound. The Hezbollah leader rarely rode in a car, but while Israeli prime minister Netanyahu was in the US, he thought that he was safe from elimination. Intelligence information, which according to the French journal Le Parisien was obtained from an Iranian spy in Beirut, revealed that the meetings were supposed to take place until the late evening.

At 6 PM the attendees went to a recess meal. One senior Hezbollah member was seen leaving the compound and Israel began to wonder whether its main target was about to leave, but the Iranian spy claimed that a senior Iranian was due to meet Nasrallah at the site. A whirlwind discussion led to the operation being brought ahead. The F15I squadron no. 69 set out and minutes later dropped 83 tons of explosives which left Nasrallah and tens of his senior aides with no chance of survival.

The operation leaves Hezbollah leaderless and confused and caps a ten-day operation in which Israel has taken out thousands of Hezbollah terrorists, weapons and equipment, and almost its entire leadership. The operation could be a turning point for the Middle East, which has been haunted for two decades by the Iranian axis and may now with the aid of Israel be freeing itself from those shackles.
