New York – Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo has reportedly expressed interest in running for mayor of New York City should current Mayor Eric Adams be forced from office amid his recent federal indictment on bribery, conspiracy, and wire fraud charges.

The NT Post citing unnamed source says, that Cuomo has been meeting with key city power-brokers, including longtime Brooklyn Democratic leader Frank Seddio, and has signaled his intention to run if Adams leaves his post.

Cuomo has reportedly confided to several insiders and real estate leaders that he is committed to entering the race if a special election is triggered, though his plans are uncertain if Adams remains in the race. According to one source, “He’s not determined if he’s running in a primary if Eric Adams is in it.”

Adams, who has vowed to stay in office and claims the charges are politically motivated due to his criticism of the federal government’s handling of the migrant crisis, is now the first sitting New York City mayor to face federal indictment.

Cuomo, with widespread name recognition and a sizable campaign war chest from his time as governor, would be well-positioned for what is likely to be a rapid and chaotic special election. His move to the political center since leaving office, including his strong stance against the “Defund the Police” movement and the mishandling of the migrant crisis, would set him apart from more progressive candidates like city Comptroller Brad Lander and Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.

While Cuomo’s camp maintains that any speculation is premature, his spokesman, Rich Azzopardi, emphasized that the former governor believes Mayor Adams is entitled to due process before any decisions are made.

Cuomo, who was forced to resign in 2021 following a sexual misconduct scandal, continues to dispute the findings of a DOJ investigation that concluded he had harassed multiple female employees. Despite this, his re-emergence on the political scene has left many insiders convinced that Cuomo is preparing for a comeback if Adams is ousted.

Oh the irony. He hates Kathy Hochul for being so eager to push him out so she can take over, and now he’s doing the same to Adams. So typical of big shot Cuomo. The basic principle of don’t do unto others……. doesn’t apply as long as it benefits himself.

There is no way that this individual who has a repeated history of harassing females will be elected. Zero.

Honestly, hes the best choice we have. You rather Williams? Every one else is a radical progressive and republicans have no chance. At least hes actually intelligent and knows he needs the business world even though he did screw the real estate industry in 2019
