Over 14,000 Flights Disrupted Across Georgia and Florida as Hurricane Milton Nears Florida’s West Coast

    FLORIDA – The approach of Category 4 Hurricane Milton is causing widespread disruptions in air travel across Georgia and Florida, with 12,186 flights delayed and 2,440 canceled as of Wednesday afternoon. Delta, Southwest, and American Airlines are among the carriers heavily impacted. Orlando International and Tampa International are experiencing the most significant delays and cancellations, with the Orlando International Airport ceasing operations early Wednesday. Tampa International will close as needed for safety but will prioritize emergency relief flights.

    Airports across Florida — from Miami to Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale to Key West — face interruptions. Southwest Florida International will remain closed through Thursday, with reopening contingent on damage assessments.
