The victims, a 42-year-old man and Jervis Jonas Ajpuac, 38, were reportedly sleeping in the parking lot when the suspects approached and attacked them. The 42-year-old sustained head and body injuries, while Ajpuac suffered severe injuries to his legs and abdomen. Both were taken to Maimonides Medical Center.
Ajpuac, who was homeless, was initially reported in stable condition but later experienced internal bleeding and was pronounced dead on October 2. His death was ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The suspects, identified as Francisco Corocoj, 25, and Manuel Perez, 49, are known to frequent the area around the ShopRite and Ocean Parkway. The NYPD is urging anyone with information on their whereabouts to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
