Another reserve soldier from the 5030th Battalion was seriously wounded in the same incident and taken to a hospital, the IDF added.

Ganizate, 36, of Givat Shmuel, is the 12th Israeli soldier killed in the ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon and during operations on the border.

An immigrant from France, Ganizat had served for 202 days of reserve duty in Gaza before returning to his wife and three children in July. In a moving post which he published after his tour of duty, Ganizate thanked his wife Shoshana for holding together the house, supervising her children and continuing her work all alone.

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity and the strength to contribute to our state. We chose to immigrate to this country and will not let anyone harm it. We will continue to fight until the eradication of our enemies,” Ganizete wrote, adding his thanks to all those who helped with his home and in his military unit by providing food, help, support and equipment.

On the eve of Rosh Hashana, Ronny once again answered the call to reserve duty in Lebanon but this time he will not return. May Hashem avenge his blood.
