Candace Owens Banned from New Zealand

(VINnews) — Candace Owens has reportedly been banned from New Zealand. Her visa application was rejected, according to New Zealand’s news website known as ‘Stuff’.

According to the report, Owens was turned down due to her previous ban from Australia.

The country’s immigration authority said in a statement: “Under section 15(1)(f) of the Immigration Act, an individual may not be granted a visa to come to New Zealand if they have been excluded from another country.”

IN addition, Stuff reported that all visa applicants must meet specific requirements, including a good character assessment that considers factors such as criminal convictions, deportation history, and potential risks to New Zealand’s security, public order, or public interest.

Owens was refused entry to Australia in October 2023, due to her potential to “incite discord.”

The Holocaust Centre of New Zealand had urged New Zealand to “carefully consider” granting a visa to Owens. Deborah Hart, Chairperson of the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand, said Owens had some “wacky” ideas, including suggesting that Jews were involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Owens has a long history of using antisemitic claims and tropes.

After the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel and outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip, Owens spread vicious falsehoods about supposed religious apartheid in Jerusalem and she essentially accused Israel of genocide.

In the months since, Owens has lashed out against “political Jews” and theorized about a “small ring” of “sinister” Jews exerting influence in Hollywood and Washington, D.C..

Most recently, she liked a tweet promoting the blood libel that Jews drink Christian blood as part of certain religious ceremonies.

In November, she “mistakenly” claimed that Muslims in Jerusalem are confined to the Muslim Quarter and then feuded with her Jewish colleague Ben Shapiro over the war between Israel and Hamas.

“You cannot serve both G-d and money,” declared Owens in what was widely viewed as an anti-Semitic shot at Shapiro.

More recently, Owens has blamed rising levels of anti-Semitism on “political Jews” and suggested that there was a “small ring of specific people” in Hollywood and potentially Washington, D.C. who are “using the fact that they are Jewish to shield themselves from any criticism.”

“All of us Black, Spanish, Jewish, Chinese, Japanese, all Americans should want answers because this appears to be something that is quite sinister,” she concluded.

The list of controversial incidents involving Owens continued to grow longer with time. In one case, she “liked” an X/Twitter post that promoted the antisemitic “blood libel.” The post read, in response to Boteach, “Rabbi, are you drunk on Christian blood again?”
