MEMPHIS (VINnews) — A 17-year-old man was arrested for murdering an Israeli man in Memphis last week, according to the Memphis Police Department. Aviv Broek was tragically murdered after being lured to a job on Hernando Road in Memphis.

Aviv, who frequently assisted the local Jewish community, was killed early Friday, November 22, after responding to what appeared to be a routine locksmith job. According to reports, he was attacked, robbed, and gunned down
Memphis Police found his body shortly after 1:15 AM following reports of gunfire.
According to Ross Flick, the executive director of Betar US, Broek’s Israeli passport was taken.
According to media reports, Aviv’s father said his son recently moved to Memphis.
“He traveled a lot around Los Angeles,” his father said. “He was in a lot of areas. Every day, we used to speak. Every day. He was in a different place, and we talked about the places he visited.”
The unidentified suspect was charged with first degree murder in perpetration of a robbery and especially aggravated robbery. Authorities have not said whether this is being investigated as a hate crime.
A GoFundMe campaign set up to help Aviv’s family fund his funeral said the 21-year-old had a “kind heart and a bright future.”
