The 21 Kislev event marks the anniversary of the freedom of the founding Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum of Satmar from the horrors of the Holocaust, when he was liberated from Nazi captivity. This day is celebrated as a symbol of survival and strength, and the Satmar community has long held it in high regard. Rabbi Zalman Leib Teitelbaum, the current Satmar Rebbe, was in attendance to honor this significant occasion.

The event attracts many local and state politicians each year, who come to show their commitment to the Jewish community. Their presence reflects the strong relationship between the Satmar community and political leaders, underscoring the community’s influence and its ongoing importance in the broader public sphere.

Landau, a Satmar Talmid from Kiryas Joel, gave a stirring speech Sunday evening at the event, emphasizing that Satmar talmidim should stand proud as Chassidic Jews with long payos and big wool tzitzis, showcasing to the world that one can be a frum Jew while also running a successful business.

This transformative gesture underscores Landau and Schwimmer’s dedication to strengthening the foundation of Jewish education and ensuring that teachers, who play a vital role in shaping future generations, are compensated with dignity and respect.

The announcement was met with widespread excitement and gratitude, signaling a new era of support and appreciation for the heroes of education in the community.

Known for his tireless efforts to support Jewish education and communal welfare, Landau has become a name synonymous with philanthropy and tzedakah. His generosity has made a lasting impact, particularly in the realm of education, and continues to inspire those around him.

B”H this is truly a wonderful commitment. And it should be replicated by each & every Yid no matter what our financial ability. Each of us needs to follow this shinning example and give no matter what the amount. A strong Yiddish education is the best insurance for our growth & survial. HaShem will continue provide to untold wealth to these 2 benefactors because he sees that they know how to handle the wealth he provides them. May they continue in good health.

I don’t want to take away from this very positive gesture. However, if a rebbi was making 100000 then 30% would be 123000 that’s a nice raise but most rebbeim are making between 50,000 and 60000 so 30% puts them to 65,000 – 78000 That would be a nice bonus. I would suggest he put up money for wedding expenses or set up a pension plan which most yeshivos do not have. Many rebbeim live from paycheck to paycheck and when they have to retire they have zero savings

Who will pay for the increase ? Will they milk parents on top of their Vouchers or will they foot the bill.

Rebbis and teachers are definitely entitled for the raise and it’s Long overdue but with yidden struggling to pay their tuitions now, I hope it won’t add to their burden.
