BRONX – A raging five-alarm fire broke out early Friday morning, January 10, 2025, at a six-story residential building located at 2910 Wallace Avenue in the Bronx. The fire, which began around 1:40 a.m., quickly escalated due to heavy winds, requiring nearly 200 firefighters to respond to the scene.

The FDNY reported that at least seven people have been injured, including five firefighters and two civilians. One of the civilians was treated at the scene and declined to be hospitalized, while the others were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Firefighters faced significant challenges as they battled the blaze, with alarming visuals showing the building engulfed in flames, particularly from the roof. The situation worsened when strong winds exacerbated the fire, pushing it to the five-alarm level — the highest alarm designation, indicating the severity of the situation.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire as crews work to contain it.
