(VINnews) As Jews across the world are experiencing mixed emotions about the hostage deal brokered at the behest of President Trump, social media users, not surprisingly, have shared their thoughts and opinions.

Here is the reaction of several well-known Jewish influencers on social media:

Chassidic political commentator Yossi Gestetner, who had already voiced criticism, responded to Trump’s announcement of the deal:

“You don’t have a deal. You have a surrender.”

He added: “Trump became a billionaire and president twice because he learned The Art of the Surrender. He folds to the headwinds at the time in order to get live and fight another day. The same goes for @netanyahu which is why he has more political lives than all his opponents combined.”

Journalist Kassy Akiva, an Orthodox convert who writes for Daily Wire, wrote: Just want to make this clear: “This hostage deal only has 33 hostages returning before January 20—which Trump gave as the deadline. There are 98 hostages in Gaza.”

An X user pointed out in response that most of the 33 are being returned after January 20, over a period of several weeks. Another observed that out of the 33, it is believed that 23 are still alive.”

Just prior to the deal being finalized, when many details had already emerged, former Trump ambassador David Friedman wrote:

“I am not smart enough to second guess a decision of the Prime Minister of Israel to make a deal for the return, albeit phased, of the hostages — especially when (1) that decision is endorsed by leadership of the IDF, the Shabak and the Mossad, (2) I have not been privy to the negotiations and don’t fully appreciate all the risks and benefits, and (3) the deal will not require Israel to end the war.

“I understand that reasonable minds may differ — this an agonizing and extremely difficult decision. Obviously, rescuing the hostages or making a deal for their return without freeing terrorists would be far better. But 15 months have passed and that does not appear to be achievable.

“I respect different points of view. What I respect far less is the certainty among some well meaning folks that this is a huge mistake.

“It may turn out to be a mistake, it may turn out to be exactly the right move. But, either way, let’s approach this with the humility, analysis, respect and compassion that such an extraordinarily difficult problem requires.

Friedman’s post was reposted by Ami Magazine’s Shloime Zionce.

Conservative radio host Ari Hoffman, based in Seattle, posted in reply to Trump’s celebration announcement: “This is not a deal anyone should be taking a victory lap on”

He added: “Anyone who is celebrating this deal has no idea what they are talking about and should never be taken seriously on the Middle East ever again”

We are all in the hands of Der Aibeshter. But I can’t help but say that I hope those terrorists being released from Israeli prisons will enjoy a brief and miserable sojourn before expiring.

This so-called agreement is the downfall of the Jewish State. Hashem gave Gaza and the rest of the land of Israel to the Jewish people. The freedom of the terrorists will cause the death of thousands of Jewish people in the near future. Yehuda and Shomron will be overwhelmed by the terrorists with the help of Europe, Turkey, the Arabian states and The USA. unless The State of Israel stops the agreement after the release of the 33 hostages and destroys the Hamas Terrorists inside and outside Israel and any other related Hamas enemies anywhere in the world with the help of the G-d of Israel. Let us all pray for the survival of the JEWISH PEOPLE .

Both Biden and Trump needed to brag about having made a deal.
Whether it’s fair, moral, or ethical is irrelevant.
