(VINnews) Today was Pete Hegseth’s first day at the Pentagon. The new Secretary of Defense spoke with reporters as he entered the facility.

Several astute people observed that near Hegseth’s limo, among his security detail, was an official wearing a noticeable kippah.

The man was likely a member of CID, the Criminal Investigations Division of the military, which is in charge of protection of Pentagon officials.

While it is likely that the unknown frum Jew has been in his position for some time, there is a slim chance that he is a DEI hire. Recently, the government recognized Jews as a minority. However, considering that the military is abolishing DEI today, that is highly unlikely.

In the image below, the man’s face is visible.

In the video below, kippah is visible at 0:08 seconds.

If any VIN readers know who the mystery official is, please reach out and share.

Why on earth would you ask for this persons name and potentially put him and his family at increased risk. Silly. Just let him be

To be a DEI hire, it would have to be a black trans convert kippah- wearing Jew, not just a plain Flatbush guy! 🙂

Unlike the Biden appointee, the shaitel wearing Anne Neuberger, that was touted as the first Orthodox Jewish female cabinet member. Everything in the democrat party is about “first”. First gay, first black lesbian (Karine Jean-Pierre) first transgender (Rachel Levine) first black this and that. Etc etc……all affirmative action picked due to their race or gender preferences. Thank God President Trump has ended all that crap.

At the university where I used to work, a group of Jewish faculty met with the director of DEI about the antisemitic attacks of Jews on campus (this was shortly after 10/7). She told us that we were white, and were not part of DEI, because we were “part of the problem”.
I don’t think this man was a ‘DEI hire’.

The comment about a DEI hire shows you have no clue how govt operates or what journalism is. I work for the feds in law enforcement. You don’t just get hired one day bc of a new jewish minority rule that happened like 2 days ago and get an assignment like that. Learn how the real world operates and actually research what you publish! (I clearly have too high expectation for this site.)

Did it occur to anyone he might have been at Yankee Stadium on fan appreciation day, giving out free yarmulkes to first 2,000 arriving fans? That’s how I got my pope’s hat.

I keep wondering how his job clashes with his shabos observance.

The real question is how he keeps that yarmulke secured to his bald head.

I’m not convinced this man is really Jewish.
Only Goyim wear brown shoes with formal attire.

If he shaves his head, he should not wear a yarmukah. Its like someone eating 2 McDonalds Cheese burgers with a Yarmukah. Nothing to be proud off.

Obviously a DEI hire.
