BROOKLYN – Three thieves were caught on camera robbing a 70-year-old man of $20,000 in a brazen daytime heist in Brooklyn. The incident occurred on January 31 at around 12:15 p.m. on Court St. near Degraw St. in Cobble Hill.

Surveillance video shows a Mercedes-Benz SUV halting in front of the victim’s gray SUV, blocking his path. The suspects then reversed the Mercedes, rear-ending the victim’s vehicle before two men jumped out, smashing the passenger-side window with a rock.
One of the thieves reached through the broken window and grabbed a bag containing $20,000 before both suspects jumped back into the Mercedes and sped off. The victim was not injured, though it remains unclear why he was carrying such a large sum of money.
The NYPD has released the footage in hopes of identifying the robbers and is urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
