In a video posted to Instagram by Subway DJ, the social media influencer approached Seinfeld in New York City, requesting a selfie. As they posed, the activist raised a peace sign and said, “Free Palestine!” Seinfeld remained silent before being asked if he would repeat the phrase.
“I don’t care about Palestine,” Seinfeld responded, shaking his head.
The interaction, posted Sunday, appears to have been filmed during Seinfeld’s visit to New York for “Saturday Night Live’s” 50th anniversary. The comedian, who has been a vocal supporter of Israel, previously visited the country and worked on a kibbutz as a teenager.
Following backlash over the clip, Seinfeld’s representative shared a statement with Mediaite, reaffirming his support for Israel. “I have loved our Jewish homeland ever since. My heart is breaking from these attacks and atrocities,” he said. “But we are also a very strong people… I will stand with Israel and the Jewish people.”
I would not be shocked if that activist is in fact a lost Jew. The tragedy of American assimilation is staggering in it’s scope and breadth.
Great response.
Jer needs to start wearing tefillin while he still can.
Lets get the message out to him.
An earlach yid, unlike many of our Jewish politicans. It won’t surprise if he becomes frum one day.
Caring about Palestine is like believing in Narnia.. both are fictional
“see? no one cares.”
