TORONTO – Footage has emerged showing the terrifying crash of Delta Flight 4819, which flipped over at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday. The plane, struggling against harsh conditions with 40-mph winds and snow, burst into flames as it skidded on the snow-covered runway before tipping over and landing on its belly.

The dramatic footage shows massive orange flames erupting from the back of the plane, which quickly turned into thick black smoke as it skidded. The plane’s wing was torn off, and it ultimately flipped upside down. Miraculously, all 80 passengers and crew members were evacuated safely. Though 18 people were hospitalized, none sustained serious injuries.
The plane, a Bombardier CRJ-900LR, had just taken off from Minneapolis and was attempting to land after a winter storm had dumped nearly 9 inches of snow on the airport. Investigations are ongoing, but officials noted that the runway was dry and there were no crosswind conditions. Emergency crews responded quickly to the wreckage, extinguishing the flames while passengers scrambled to safety.
This incident marks the first major commercial passenger jet crash since January, and investigators are now working to determine the cause of the plane’s sudden and catastrophic flip.

Too hard of a landing, so landing gear and wings broke off, flipped over…the captain will have to explain himself/herself. DEI to blame?
Looks to me like he landed hard and broke the right main landing gear, causing the right wingtip to strike the ground. then the wing tears off and the plane flips over and slides to a stop on its back.
before tipping over and landing on its belly? Landed on its ROOF!
The runway wasn’t clean at all full of snow
Looks like the right landing gear collapsed. Didn’t look like too hard of a landing either. Some kind of defect. Maintenance should have picked that up.
This is key. The airplane didn’t “flip” — it ROLLED. Big difference there. Initially suspected the airplane may have encountered a downdraft just prior to touching down, but video shows now upwards deflection of the wings. Guess they probably just came in way, way way too fast.
Pilot was probably Mark Hoagies.
