A Personal Call to Action

Rand explained that her resolve to take action was sparked by the events of October 7, 2023—a day marked by the invasion, massacre, and kidnapping of Israelis by Hamas and affiliated Muslim Brotherhood terrorists. “I never really understood the level of college antisemitism until my son started applying to colleges,” she stated. This personal experience, combined with the alarming increase in hostile acts on campuses, has propelled Rand to stand up for Jewish students and their right to a safe academic environment.

Criticism of University Policies

In light of a recent report from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) that graded 85 American universities on their policies protecting Jewish students from antisemitism, Rand was vocal about the shortcomings of higher education institutions. The report, which handed Harvard and 12 other prestigious schools an “F,” has spurred further outrage. Rand pointed to institutions on both coasts, specifically highlighting California state universities and select Eastern schools as the worst offenders in failing to safeguard their Jewish communities.

Building a Collaborative Movement

At the heart of M.A.C.A.’s success is a dedicated team of volunteers and staff who tirelessly monitor campus climates and coordinate responses alongside groups like #EndJewHatred. Rand emphasizes that the organization, now established as a non-profit, intentionally steers clear of divisive political debates to maintain a clear focus on protecting Jewish students. “M.A.C.A. is open to mothers, fathers, Jews, and Christians… basically, anyone who supports our message,” she affirmed, underscoring the inclusive nature of the movement.

A Recognized Advocate

Rand’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Recently named one of the 50 most influential Jewish activists, she now stands at the forefront of a national dialogue on campus safety and the broader fight against antisemitism. Through M.A.C.A., Rand is determined to drive meaningful change by holding institutions accountable and mobilizing communities to take a stand against hate.
