More Than 4000 People Massacred In Syria, Guterres Remains Silent

NEW YORK (VINnews) — More than 4,000 people have been killed in the massacre carried out by jihadists in Syria, including many Christians, according to a report published early Sunday by the American network “Fox News.” Reports from the ground indicate that the jihadist militants are entering villages, executing entire families, burning houses of worship, and brutally eliminating anyone perceived as opposing their rule.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that more than 340 Alawites were killed within just two days. However, according to testimonies from Alawite sources in Europe, the actual number is much higher, reaching thousands. A testimony from an Alawite woman who fled the Al-Ghab Plain region describes how militias refer to Alawites as “pigs” and claim that “children must be eliminated before the elderly.” She recounted that armed men stormed her home last Thursday, threatened her with weapons, looted her belongings, and stole money from her neighbors.

Numerous clips of brutal executions and abuse have emerged on social media. In some of them, Al-Jolani’s militants sport ISIS badges on their uniforms, testifying to their jihadist aspirations.

The recent events confirm warnings issued months ago by the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, who had cautioned about a terrorist takeover in Syria. In a Senate hearing, she stated: “I have no love for Assad or any dictator, I just hate Al-Qaeda. I hate that our leaders coddle Islamist extremists and call them ‘rebels.’ These jihadists danced in the streets on September 11 and were responsible for the deaths of many American soldiers.”

While the international community remains silent, Israel is one of the few countries responding decisively. Defense Minister Israel Katz condemned the rule of Abu Muhammad al-Julani, putting an end to his attempts to present a moderate facade. Katz stated: “He has removed the mask and revealed his true face—a jihadist terrorist from the Al-Qaeda school, committing atrocities against civilians.” He emphasized that Israel would act to ensure that southern Syria remains demilitarized and that the Druze population receives protection.

Alawite sources in Europe have issued a desperate plea for help, stating that the Islamist militias “want to kill us all.” The community is calling on Israel to intervene on their behalf, just as it has acted to protect the Druze in Syria.

Despite the atrocities, al-Sharaa continues to project a seemingly moderate image. In a pre-recorded speech, he claimed that “government forces will pursue remnants of the old regime and bring them to fair trial.” However, in reality, a mass slaughter is taking place across the country, with anyone connected to the previous government or outside the extreme Sunni Islamist ideology being killed without judicial recourse.

Meanwhile, the Western world is displaying inaction. UN Secretary-General António Guterres met with al-Sharaa just two days before the massacre began and has since remained silent. European leaders and former Biden administration officials have avoided taking a clear stance, while countries such as Saudi Arabia and Turkey have supported the new regime, hoping it will bring “stability” to the region.

France condemned the atrocities and requested that the Syrian interim authorities make sure independent investigations “shed full light on these crimes,” but if the authorities are also culpable in the massacres it is hard to believe that they will prosecute the perpetrators.
