NEW JERSEY – A Paterson police officer is facing criticism after wearing a Palestinian flag patch on his uniform while on duty, raising concerns over the display of foreign symbols in U.S. law enforcement.

Officer Adeeb Iqnies, who has served with the department for three years, was seen in a video interview proudly wearing the patch and discussing his Palestinian heritage. “I’m a Palestinian who loves both my country and Palestine,” he said, emphasizing the importance of representation in government roles.

The gesture has sparked debate, with some—particularly in the Jewish community—arguing that the flag could be unsettling amid rising antisemitism. Others view it as an expression of cultural identity.

Paterson, which has a sizable Muslim American population, has around 15 Muslim officers, including Palestinians and Jordanians, according to Iqnies. The Paterson Police Department has not yet commented on whether foreign flags are permitted on uniforms.

Any Jew who is stopped, ticketed, detained, etc, has a right to claim antisemitic harassment. It’s impossible to wear a Palestinian flag and impartially enforce the law. Any Jew stopped by such an officer has a right to claim intimidation.

There is such a cop in the 70th PCT in Brooklyn . There have been numerous claims of falsely being ticketed by a cop with the last name Hussain . Make sure you have a dash cam to refute the accusation in court , it would help to retain an attorney as well ,as the judge is as crooked

Being that this whole city is mini-palestine I am surprised that no one hacked the city systems just to retaliate.
