JERUSALEM (VINnews) — An elderly man was shot dead, and a soldier was seriously wounded in a terror attack Monday morning at Tishbi Junction near Yokne’am. The victim has been identified as Moshe Horn, 85, from Kibbutz HaZorea.

According to police, the terrorist rammed his vehicle into a bus stop along Route 66, where the 20-year-old soldier had been waiting. After crashing, the attacker exited the car and stabbed the soldier before seizing his rifle. He then ran down the highway, firing at passing vehicles, killing a 75-year-old driver.
The attack ended when Border Police officers, who happened to be passing by, spotted the gunman and fatally shot him. Medics pronounced the elderly driver dead at the scene, while the injured soldier was rushed to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa in serious condition. His condition had not yet stabilized, officials said.

Eyewitness Gideon Shalom, who was at the bus stop just before the attack, told Israeli media he had briefly stepped away to get better phone reception when the vehicle suddenly crashed. “At first, I thought it was an accident, so I ran toward him,” Shalom said. “Then he got out with a large knife. I escaped over the road barrier, he stabbed the young man, and I heard two shots in my direction.”
Footage shared on social media showed the attacker running along the highway with the stolen rifle, firing into a car before being gunned down by Border Police.
The attack comes after a period of relative calm following a series of deadly attacks earlier this year, many of them in northern Israel. Authorities are investigating whether the terrorist acted alone or had any known affiliations.
