According to journalist Asaf Pozailov from Kan News, the tragedy occurred about 14 years ago due to an IDF mishap. The security establishment was aware that a terrorist cell planned to fire on vehicles, but they decided to restrict only military vehicles from traveling through the area near the Gaza border, allowing civilian cars and buses to pass. That day, Daniel Viflich, of blessed memory, was murdered when a Hamas missile was fired at the bus he was riding in near the Sa’ad junction.
Daniel, a resident of Beit Shemesh, studied at the Heichal Hatorah Yeshiva Ketana and planned to study in Gateshead yeshiva in yeshiva gedolah. He was 16 at his death and was survived by his parents and younger sister.

Today, fourteen years later, Jamil Amer Jamil Wadia — the commander of the Shuja’iyya Battalion and the terrorist involved in the anti-tank missile attack on the school bus carrying Daniel and the driver — was eliminated.
According to the IDF spokesperson, Ahmed Salman Outz Shamali, the deputy commander of the Gaza Brigade, was also killed in the strikes. Shamali was responsible for operations and for planning the brigade’s offensive strategy and force-building ahead of Hamas’s brutal October 7th attack.
The statement also mentioned that “during the war, he was responsible for the deployment and positioning of Gaza Brigade forces against IDF troops in the area.”
good riddance, may he burn in hell for eternity.
better late than never, but this will not deter terrorism.
May the Viflic family know a measure of comfort knowing that their son’s killer is now suffering his eternal punishment.
