The service—powered by AT&T—will be available to members of American’s AAdvantage loyalty program, which is free to join. Once rolled out, Wi-Fi will be accessible on 90% of the airline’s fleet, more than any other U.S. carrier.
To support this move, American is upgrading over 500 regional jets with high-speed Wi-Fi by the end of 2025.
Previously, Wi-Fi on American flights cost started $10 per flight or up to $700 annually for two devices.
Delta launched its free Wi-Fi with T-Mobile in 2023, and United is expected to begin offering complimentary access via SpaceX’s Starlink service this May.
