Petraeus, who once commanded U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, said the strike plan has been continuously updated over the years to reflect changes in Iran’s military capabilities and regional dynamics.

He also disclosed that the operation was once tested in a large-scale simulation on U.S. soil, underlining the seriousness with which American defense officials have viewed the Iranian threat.

While Petraeus did not confirm whether the plan is under current consideration, he emphasized that the U.S. military remains fully capable of executing such a mission if required.

The revelation comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and growing speculation over how the U.S. might respond to Iran’s continued support for regional proxy forces.
