The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. as Delta Flight 1213, an Airbus A330, was pushing back from the gate en route to Atlanta. Onboard were 200 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots.
Video footage shared on social media and obtained by FOX 35 News shows thick smoke and passengers evacuating down inflatable emergency slides as fire crews rushed to extinguish the blaze. The fire reportedly erupted from one of the jet’s engines, drawing a swift response from both the flight crew and emergency personnel.
Delta confirmed that its crew followed established safety protocols after spotting flames in the engine tailpipe. In a statement, the airline emphasized, “Nothing is more important than safety and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations as soon as possible.”
There were no initial reports of injuries, and all passengers were safely evacuated. The FAA has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
