TORONTO (AP) — Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party won Canada’s federal election on Monday, capping a stunning turnaround in fortunes fueled by U.S. President Donald Trump’s annexation threats and trade war.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the national public broadcaster, said the Liberals will win more of Parliament’s 343 seats than the Conservatives. It wasn’t clear yet if the Liberals will win an outright majority, which would allow them to pass legislation without needing help.

The Liberals looked headed for a crushing defeat until the American president started attacking Canada’s economy and threatening its sovereignty, suggesting it should become the 51st state. Trump’s actions infuriated Canadians and stoked a surge in nationalism that helped the Liberals flip the election narrative and win a fourth-straight term in power.

The opposition Conservative Party’s leader, Pierre Poilievre, hoped to make the election a referendum on former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose popularity declined toward the end of his decade in power as food and housing prices rose.

But Trump attacked, Trudeau resigned and Carney, a two-time central banker, became the Liberal Party’s leader and prime minister.

Conservatives were projected an easy win in Canada, but our guy couldn’t wait a couple months to start picking on Canada until after the election… I voted for Trump in every general election, but I’ll be the first to admit he’s all about emotions; not exactly a strategic chess player. At this point, the only thing left is a useless bemoaning of should have voted DeSantis in the Republican primaries…

Hate to say it but this is really Trump’s fault. The Conservatives and Pierre Poilievre were running away with the election until Trump started his Canada bashing. Poilievre is perceived as close to Trump, so Canadians, upset at Trumps rhetoric are turning back to the Liberals. I’m not saying that Trump is wrong about his beef with Canada, he is 100% right about it. But all of the gratuitous demeaning rhetoric really pissed Canadians off.

it should be noted, in Canada the elections are not stolen (real or imagined).
I guess, another reason for USA to join Canada as the 1th province.

This repeated insanity shows they’re too stupid to have their own country and should indeed join USA.

Coming to the USA in 2026, Democrat’s will sweep into Congress and maybe the senate too. Just like the win in Canada. You could thnak Trump for making people so nervous and edgy with his tarriffs. He should stick to how governed during his first term.
