BROOKLYN – The Chabad-Lubavitch movement has strongly condemned the violent actions that unfolded in Brooklyn last week, calling out provocations from both pro-Palestinian protesters and counter-protesters. The incidents, which included an assault on a woman mistaken for a protester, have sparked outrage and concern over the escalating tensions in the community.

The confrontation took place near the Chabad-Lubavitch headquarters in Crown Heights, where a protest against Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir turned chaotic. A woman, who had come to investigate the protest, was chased, kicked, and pelted with objects by a mob of Orthodox Jewish men, mistaking her for a participant in the demonstration. The attack, recorded on video, left the woman bruised and emotionally shaken.

In response to the incident, Chabad spokesman Rabbi Motti Seligson condemned the actions of both the protesters and the assailants, stating that violence and hatred have no place in the community. “The crude language and violence from all sides are entirely unacceptable and against the Torah’s teachings,” he said.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams also weighed in, stating that those responsible for the violence would be held accountable. “New York City will always be a place where people can peacefully protest, but we will not tolerate violence, trespassing, menacing, or threatening,” Adams said, reaffirming the city’s commitment to justice.

Why do people have a right to peacefully protest without a permit ? And why is it allowed at a holy sacred place like a Shul ? Can I protest outside a mosque ?

First & foremost, I disagree that Chabad called out their own. I’m sorry but it’s a sign of Weakness! While I do not condone violence, why do I get the feeling that the Woman who was there, “to investigate the Protest” was not exactly there to “just observe.” I’ll bet she instigated such a reaction. Years ago, I would be appalled by this response. However, after years & ESPECIALLY since 10/7, seeing our State, City, Neighborhood, NYPD and our esteemed, “Askanim” literally do ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING but pander to the Hamas-Mobs who harass & intimidate Jews all over NYC and it’s SANCTIONED by NYS & NYC at this point, it’s good to see Jews Finally fighting back in the streets! Enough of the “Shtetl-Mentality” that has FAILED US the World Over time & time again. I / We thought America was supposed to be different?!? Well guess what, HKB’H has SHATTERED that myth! Those who still tell us to rely on outside protection, ENDANGER US ALL! And No, the next Mayor of NYC, regardless of who it is, is NOT going to improve the situation. My gut tells me NYC will only continue to sink into depths of the abyss!

Rabbi Motti Seligson is no spokesperson for Chabad and he talking for himself .
Chabad had every right to do demonstrate the evil .
Every day Jews are viciously beaten in crown heights and no one is doing anything about it.

“Chabad Denounces Violent Retaliation from Both Sides as NYC Mayor Vows Accountability”.
How typical of Jewish groups and organizations to sound weak to satisfy the low life City and state Democrat politicians that gave in cart Blanche to the Pro-Hamas animals to keep doing what they’re doing for years now. They come to our neighborhoods and to our buildings and then when we finally protest back and they get violent and then we defend ourselves, it suddenly now becomes denouncing violence from both sides. Oh shut up!! No Agudah and Orthodox Union calling out these snake politicians and where they’ve been all this time? Constantly protesting without permits? Without proper security/ law enforcement officers?? They’re losing their credibility as our voice very quickly.

Why did Chabad invite this person into 770, knowing it would instigate unrest?
