After officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver exited the parkway, re-entered, and sped onto a service road where a roadblock had been set up. The car came dangerously close to one officer, nearly striking him, prompting the officer to open fire. The vehicle then hit another police car before continuing until it stopped.

A passenger was apprehended, and officers performed lifesaving measures on the driver, who later died at the hospital. Authorities revealed the driver was on federal probation for interstate transport of stolen vehicles. No further details about the driver were released.
