JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Bittersweet joy was felt this past Shabbat in the family of Rabbi Raphael Mordechai Fishhof, of blessed memory, who was murdered a few days before Yom Kippur this year in a horrific terror attack which occurred in the city of Hadera. His widow gave birth to their seventh child — a baby girl — bringing emotional joy amidst a painful time of loss.

Close friends of the family described the birth as a deeply emotional event, filled with mixed feelings. While the happiness surrounding the birth of the daughter is immense, it is accompanied by sorrow over the fact that she will never have the chance to meet her father.
Rabbi Raphael Mordechai, Hashem Yikom Damo, was born in Bnei Brak on the 17th of Shevat, 5749 (1989), to Rabbi Shraga Zvi Fishhof, a leading figure in the Beis Mattisyahu Yeshiva and head of the Knesses Shmuel Yeshiva in Beitar Illit, and his mother Sarah, a descendant of Rabbi Nosson Adler.
Rabbi Fishhof married the daughter of Rabbi Yechezkel Dovid Ostern, a rabbi in the city of Ofakim and the Torah Chaim Yeshiva. Together, they established their home in the yeshiva neighborhood in Hadera, where he continued his Torah studies in the yeshiva’s kollel.
As previously reported, just days before Yom Kippur, he was tragically murdered in a brutal terror attack outside his home which shocked the Jewish world. He left behind his dear wife and six young orphans, his parents, in-laws, and now — one more orphaned daughter who will never know the warm embrace of her father.
