JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Israeli military launched a wave of targeted airstrikes in Yemen late Monday, striking key Houthi military infrastructure in response to a recent barrage of missile and drone attacks against Israel, including a direct hit on Ben Gurion International Airport that left several civilians wounded.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the strikes, conducted by Israeli Air Force fighter jets, “completely disabled” the Houthi-controlled Sanaa International Airport, which the military identified as a major hub for Iranian-backed arms transfers and militant activity.
“The airport was regularly used by the Houthi regime to transfer weapons and operatives, and served as a launch point for terror attacks targeting Israeli civilians,” the IDF said in a statement.
The precision strikes come amid heightened regional tensions following the Houthis’ expanding role in supporting Iran’s proxy war against Israel. The militant group has claimed responsibility for a growing number of long-range missile and drone attacks, including the unprecedented strike on Israel’s main international airport Sunday.
Ahead of the operation, Israeli forces issued warnings to civilians in the vicinity of the airport, emphasizing efforts to avoid non-combatant casualties.
In addition to the airport, IDF jets targeted multiple Houthi-operated power stations near Sanaa and a cement factory north of the capital, which officials say was used to produce infrastructure and tunnel systems for militant use.
“The strike on the concrete factory constitutes a blow to the regime’s economy and its military buildup,” the IDF added, underscoring Israel’s continued efforts to degrade the Houthi militia’s warfighting capabilities.
Israel has consistently maintained that it will hold all actors accountable for direct threats to its population, especially those enabled by Iranian support.
Following the Israeli strikes in Yemen in response to the Houthi missile attacks, Defense Minister Israel Katz warns Iran that it will also face consequences.
“It is also a warning to the Iranian head of the octopus: You bear direct responsibility for any attack by the Houthi tentacle against the State of Israel, and you will also bear the full consequences,” he says.
