CHESTER – The newly surfaced video, captured by a doorbell camera at a nearby home, sheds more light on the horrifying events that transpired Friday night in Chester, New York. The footage shows the moments leading up to the shooting of the 24-year-old DoorDash delivery driver, who was lost in the rural area after his phone died and he couldn’t find the right address.

The victim, who had approached several homes for help, eventually knocked on the door of John J. Reilly, the town’s highway superintendent. According to the victim’s family, Reilly asked if the delivery was his. After being told “no,” he allegedly ordered the driver to leave his property. However, as the driver was turning to leave and walking toward his car, Reilly opened fire, striking him in the back.
The victim’s family described his terror in those final moments, with one relative revealing that he “thought his life was over” when Reilly began shooting. Incredibly, the injured driver managed to drive himself to a nearby gas station before attempting to return to his home in Middletown, about 12 miles away. Despite undergoing emergency surgery, his condition is not expected to be fatal, though the family expressed concern over the long-term consequences of his injuries.
Reilly, 48, a federally-licensed firearms dealer, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of a firearm. He was arraigned on Saturday and is being held in custody pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Friday.
DoorDash condemned the attack in a statement, calling it a senseless act of violence and expressing support for the victim’s recovery.

The charges should be upgraded.
Unhinged psychopath. Attempted murder is not one of the charges? What on Earth??
HES AN FFL???? With a hot temper??? What an idiot he’s going to lose everything
Lol: “Despite undergoing emergency surgery, his condition is not expected to be fatal” Has to be a better way of saying that. ‘Needing’… ‘Requiring’…? Just to be safe, I’m making a note never to visit those bloodthirsty surgeons.
this is the wild west. but even then, shooting a man in the back was frowned upon.
THE POLICE ARE NOT OUR FRIENDS!!! Stop honoring these thugs. Stop respecting them. Stop inviting them to your milaveh malkas.
