Terror Survivor MK Limor Son Har-Melech Reacts To The Brutal Murder: ‘I Was There Too’

JERUSALEM(VINnews) — MK Limor SonHar-Melech was also the victim of a drive-by terrorist shooting in Samaria, when she was pregnant with her second child 21 years ago. Her first husband was murdered in the attack; she was injured and gave birth the same day, to a girl, Sarah, who got engaged last night. Son-Har-Melech shared her personal feelings after the brutal murder of Tzeela Gez in a similar terrorist attack last night.

“I’m reading about Tzeela Gez, may her memory be a blessing — a young woman, pregnant, on her way to the delivery room, to what should have been the happiest moment of her life: bringing a new life into the world. Her husband was wounded in the attack, and they are now fighting to save their baby — and I can’t help but go back 21 years.

“I was there too. I was also a pregnant woman, traveling with my husband on the roads of Samaria. We too were ambushed by a terrorist cell that opened fire on our car. My beloved husband, Shuli, was murdered. I was injured and rushed into emergency surgery. My daughter, Sarah, was born in the sixth month — three hours after her father was killed. They also fought for her life back then.

“Yesterday, just as we were celebrating Sarah’s engagement, the terrible news came in. Media outlets called, asking for interviews. I couldn’t. The pain was too great.

“I pictured Tzeela Gez, may her memory be a blessing, and her husband — for whose recovery I pray. I imagined how excited they were about the birth, how long they had waited for this moment. How they decided that now was the time — to get in the car and drive to the hospital. And at that very same moment, a terrorist cell gathered, deciding that now was the time to murder — to murder them just because they were Jews.

“We are facing a cruel enemy. An enemy who seeks to kill Jews. In the middle of the night. On dark roads. To defeat him, to eliminate him — we must first recognize his cruel and murderous nature, and his goals.

“And to you, Major General Avi Blot, I say with pain and rage: you got it all wrong. Over the past month, you opened numerous checkpoints throughout Judea and Samaria, even though terrorist cells were known to be roaming the area — and what worried you was how the Jews would react? The Jews — they are not the enemy. They are not the ones lying in ambush at night, shooting at women on their way to give birth. Do some soul-searching: how did we get here? “You — who opened checkpoints despite knowing that right in that very area a terrorist cell was operating, one that had already carried out and attempted four attacks. You did it to “avoid disrupting the daily life of the enemy.”

“You — who continued the disgraceful policy of your predecessor Fuchs. And even when the defense minister wisely decided to cancel the shameful administrative detentions — you rushed to bypass the political decision by issuing restraining orders instead.

“You — who did not cancel the classification of Jews as “the enemy” in the ‘Masaot’ system — a vile, antisemitic system that perpetuates the perception that the righteous Jews of Judea and Samaria are the enemy.

“You — who were given all the tools and full backing from the political leadership to eliminate the threats in Judea and Samaria — and acted like a frightened grasshopper in a store packed with terrorists and weapons. You missed the opportunity again.

“I gave you a chance. I wanted to believe you would act differently than the evil one before you. But this is where it ends. A woman was murdered on her way to the delivery room — and that is entirely on you. I will no longer remain silent.”
