Currently, there are 10 charedi Hesder yeshivot operating, with around 800 students and soldiers in the program. Under the new plan, the program is expected to grow to 25 yeshivot and 3,000 students by 2030. About 25% of participants are expected to serve in combat or combat-support roles.

The program combines Torah study with significant military service in two main tracks — combat/combat support and technological roles (such as in high-tech or advanced industries) — as well as civilian-vocational training. The initiative is being advanced in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the official Union of charedi Hesder Yeshivot.

Minister Kisch stated:

“Expanding the charedi Hesder track is first and foremost a moral and ethical move — an initiative I am leading to allow young charedim to serve the state while remaining faithful to the Torah world, with a complete identity and a sense of shared responsibility.”

The issue of charedi enlistment into the IDF remains a central point of public and political tension in Israel, with the main controversy revolving around equal burden-sharing and the enlistment of yeshiva students from the charedi community.

This is the way it should go. Voluntarly expand hesder into charedi sects. but don’t impose drafts. it won’t work

What is the exact definition of Hareidi? If someone leads the exact lifestyle as a nationally religious but happens to come from a Hareidi background and still wears a black hat is that Hareidi?
Just wondering, maybe someone can clarify…

If you “don’t support violence,” but you oppose someone’s self defense (but not their attacker’s attacks on them) and in fact imply that you’re against their continued existence, you support violence.
