JERUSALEM – Staff Sergeant Naveh Leshem, 20, from Nokdim and a combat soldier in the 12th Battalion of the Golani Brigade, was killed in action during fighting in southern Gaza, the IDF confirmed today.

The deadly incident occurred when an explosive device detonated near or attached to a Namer armored personnel carrier in which Leshem and his unit were operating. Alongside Leshem, a Golani officer and three other soldiers were seriously wounded. Three additional soldiers sustained moderate injuries, and three more were lightly hurt, bringing the total number of wounded to ten.
The IDF said the blast was likely caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) and is investigating the circumstances of the attack. The incident highlights the growing risks Israeli forces face during ongoing ground operations in Gaza.
Leshem’s death has been officially cleared for publication following family notification. He is mourned as a brave soldier who fell defending the country amid escalating conflict.
