IDF Soldier Indicted for Spying for Iran in Serious Espionage Case

JERUSALEM – An IDF soldier was indicted Thursday for maintaining contact with Iranian agents and passing them information in exchange for money.

The soldier, whose actions were uncovered in a joint investigation by the Shin Bet, Israel Police’s Lahav 433, and Military Police, is accused of knowingly cooperating with the Iranian operatives. He allegedly documented and transmitted sensitive information including missile interceptions and landings inside Israel.

Military prosecutors have charged him with contact with a foreign agent and providing intelligence to the enemy. Authorities clarified that the information he shared was not obtained through his official military role.

The soldier’s detention has been extended until July 22.

In a joint statement, the Shin Bet and Israel Police called the case “particularly serious” and reiterated warnings to the Israeli public against engaging with enemy agents.
