JERUSALEM,ISRAEL (VINnews)-The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it carried out precision airstrikes on Sunday targeting the Houthis at the port of Hodeidah in western Yemen. According to the IDF, the strikes destroyed “military infrastructure of the Houthi terror regime,” including vessels, fuel storage, and engineering equipment reportedly being used to restore and repurpose the port for renewed attacks.

Military officials say the targets were directly linked to Houthi operations against Israel and international maritime traffic. “These assets were being used for military activity and attacks against the State of Israel and ships in the maritime area near the port,” the IDF said in a statement.
This latest strike marks a continuation of Israel’s efforts to curb Houthi aggression from over 1,000 miles away. While previous Israeli operations in Yemen involved fighter jets and refueling aircraft, Sunday’s strike was reportedly conducted by drones.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a forceful warning following the strike:
“The IDF is striking terror targets of the Houthi terror regime at the port of Hodeidah and is forcefully enforcing any attempt to restore the previously attacked terror infrastructure,” he said.
“The Houthis will pay a heavy price for launching missiles toward the State of Israel. We will continue to act at any time and in any place to defend the State of Israel.”
Katz added a broader warning to Iran, declaring: “The fate of Yemen will be the same as Tehran.”
The Houthis, backed and armed by Iran, have repeatedly targeted Israeli territory and international shipping lanes in the Red Sea in coordination with Tehran’s regional strategy. Israeli officials view these attacks as part of the broader “axis of resistance” led by Iran, and have vowed to hold all its proxies accountable.
