According to sources cited by The New York Post, Hyman was gunned down when 27-year-old shooter Shane Tamura entered the lobby of the building on Monday evening and made his way to the 33rd floor, where Rudin’s offices are located. Investigators believe Tamura may have intended to target the NFL offices on lower floors but mistakenly ended up in Rudin’s suite, where he opened fire.
Hyman’s LinkedIn profile confirmed her role at Rudin Management, where she had worked since graduating from Cornell. Friends and colleagues describe her as ambitious, bright, and deeply committed to her work in real estate and property management.
A bullet hole was later seen in a window near the shooting scene as NYPD officers secured the perimeter outside.
This development follows the earlier identification of Wesley LePatner, a senior executive at Blackstone, as another victim of the senseless attack. LePatner was one of the most prominent figures in institutional real estate, serving as Global Head of Core+ Real Estate and CEO of BREIT.
Tamura, who had a revoked gun permit and a known history of mental illness, reportedly left behind a note referencing CTE and blaming the NFL, although he never played professional football.
